The Dark Knight Dominates, Again
July 28th, 2008 Posted in Movies
Surprising absolutely no one, “The Dark Knight’ massacred every other movie in theaters this weekend.
Here be the box-office rundown from this past weekend:
1. “The Dark Knight,” $75.63 million.
2. “Step Brothers,” $30 million.
3. “Mamma Mia!” $17.9 million.
4. “The X-Files: I Want to Believe,” $10.2 million.
5. “Journey to the Center of the Earth,” $9.4 million.
6. “Hancock,” $8.2 million.
7. “Wall-E,” $6.3 million.
8. “Hellboy II: The Golden Army,” $4.9 million.
9. “Space Chimps,” $4.4 million.
10. “Wanted,” $2.7 million.
This brings a question to mind: What in the hell were the retards who made “The X-Files: No One Cares,” thinking? Why would you decide to release a movie that is going to suck to begin with a week after the biggest movie of all-time (eventually) is released? Why not wait a few weeks to give it a chance of making more than $10 million (haha, you suck)? If you read the CNN article attached to these box-office rankings you’ll see one of the “X-Files” retards say that the movie was made for hardcore fans of the series and they are happy. Right, I’m sure every movie studio is out to make the minority of the movie-going public happy. By this time next week “The Dark Knight” will be freight-training through the $400m mark while the “X-Files: Who Greenlit This?” picks itself out of the mud puddle.
Also, “Step Brothers” was decent. It is full of the stupid humor you expect and is absolutely retarded. I don’t think you’ll be missing much if you decide to skip this, but if you do see it you’ll laugh, just don’t expect any resemblance of a plot. It’s pretty much an excuse for Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly to act like retards for two hours, and they do it well.
